CIG '16  

CIG'16 is just weeks away. This community-wide meeting, Interdisciplinary Directions in Computational Geophysics, will be held on the campus of UC Davis. Plenary sessions will be held from June 20-22 with tutorials before, during and after.  Remember to check the website for the latest logistics, tutorial instructions, as well as the schedule of events. THE SPECTRAL AMPLITUDE OF STELLAR CONVECTION AND ITS SCALING IN THE HIGH-RAYLEIGH-NUMBER REGIME


In spring of 2013, CIG initiated code development of Rayleigh, a new HPC pseudospectral code for studying spherical dynamos such as those that occur in the planetary and stellar interiors. This effort is lead by Nick Featherstone with CIG’s Geodynamo Working Group. Featherstone and Hindman (2016) present the first results fromRayleigh with a series of three-dimensional stellar convection simulations designed to examine how the amplitude and spectral distribution of convective flows are established within a star's interior... read full article. N. 2016 XSEDE Allocation Awarded

CIG was recently awarded resources on  XSEDE for high-end computational resources, visualization, and storage. The resources are available through our community allocations from 2016-04-01 through 2017-03-31. CIG maintains community allocations for researchers to perform small-scale research tests and benchmarks with the goal of helping researchers obtain their own XSEDE allocations.  See our website to request an account ... XSEDE.
