Phase-dependent recrystallization and its impact on mixing

by Soeren Tholen and Jolien Linckens

The formation of fine grained, well mixed (ultra)mylonitic layers in the upper mantle is still an open question. Here, microfabrics displaying porphyroclast mixed assemblage transitions were analyzed regarding their phase assemblage, grain size and shape, mixing patterns and crystallographic orientations for insights into the interplay of phase mixing and recrystallization.
