Getting to Sendai

Sendai International Airport

Sendai International Airport (SDJ) is served predominantly by far east carriers and their partner airlines.  There are no direct flights from the U.S. to Sendai. Most international flights will connect through Narita (NRT).

Sendai Airport Access Line offers a  25-minute-ride from central Sendai (JR Sendai Station) to Sendai Airport without any transfer (650 Yen). Fare machines are cash only.

  • Sendai Station to Sendai Airport - First train 6:08 AM, Last train 10:52 PM
  • Sendai Airport to Sendai Station - First train 6:22 AM, Last train 11:11 PM

Narita International Airport

Narita International Airport (NRT) is the predominant international airport in Japan served by major U.S. and international carriers. 

If you are arriving at Narita, take the Japan Railways Tokyo Narita Express - JR NEX to Tokyo (53 min, 3000 Yen). 

At the Tokyo station, proceed up several levels to the Shinkansen or bullet train. Buy a ticket on the Tohoku line for Sendai (~2hrs, 11,200 Yen).

Food and bathrooms are available on the train.

Sendai Station

Upon arrival in Sendai proceed through the west entry/exit, the hotel is immediately visible.

  • Sendai Station is a 9 min walk to the Westin
  • Taxi to the "Hoteru Westin" will cost about 700 Yen ($7, no tipping)

REMEMBER 

  • If you are receiving travel support, you MUST fly a U.S. carrier.
  • To always ask for receipts and keep track of your ticket as it is needed for both boarding and exiting the trains.
