2016 ASPECT Tutorial

This tutorial walks participants through setting up and visualizing a 2D box model in ASPECT. At the end of the tutorial, participants will be able to:

  • Run ASPECT from the command line
  • Understand the basic layout of the parameter files
  • Visualize output in ParaView
  • Specify post processors
  • Understand issues in accuracy in simulations

Software Requirements

Participants will run ASPECT utilizing a virtual machine (VM) on their own laptops. USB sticks will be given to participants at registration. Participants are expected to complete installation prior to the tutorial. Please check back for times of help sessions.

Technical Requirements

We recommend that your computer have at least 3GB and preferably 4GB of memory as well as 10GB of free hard drive space to use the virtual machine.
